Forgiveness for you and others
Forgiveness for you and others

Jesus was the example for first fruits and the sacrifice that he made personally paved the way for our ability to have a relationship with the Father.

When he died the thing that separated us from God no longer existed.

Now for us to take advantage of that, we have to step into the place where God is. We have to want to be with him.

In the parable in Matthew of the unjust servant Jesus explains about complete forgiveness.  And that when we have been forgiven we must also forgive others this in turn keeps our debt from coming back upon us.

When the unjust servant didn't forgive the small amount that was owed to him the master gave him over to the torturers.

How many people are in this world that have gone through the process of salvation but forgiveness did not make it to their heart and therefore they have been stuck in this place of being tortured by the things that they have not let go of in their life and not allowed forgiveness to have a complete work in them.

They probably have come to the point of if this is being saved it's not worth it because before they were just in debt to the sin that they had done now the enemy is literally torturing them in their existence.

We have the gospel, the feast of unleavened bread and that experience has produced God forgiving us as we have confessed our sin and he's cleansed us.  Now he's calling us to bring that good news to others as we extend forgiveness to others and show them the life-changing experience that they too can truly be saved.

How do you see forgiveness differently this year?

How did the confession of sin cause you to feel inside?

What is your moment where the word came alive to you in this experience of forgiveness?

The first fruit of forgiveness! Jesus paid a high price and set a solid example of how forgiveness of sin is the Kingdom of God at hand!

How do you see forgiveness differently this year?

Forgiveness has to be complete. Jesus didn't just pick the number 70 x 7 for no reason, he said it because the meaning of the number 490 means completeness! Forgiveness has to be completed, God desires that our forward movement not be dictated by a rearview mirror perspective. If we allow this word to become alive in us, we will begin to see people through the eyes of forgiveness, the future they have before them, instead of our past and their past clouding the way…

Thank you Pastor Aaron for a message that has me talking about it over and over again! Forgiveness such a powerful concept and yet for so many difficult to completely do without understanding what Jesus did for us.

How do you see forgiveness differently this year? Honestly what I see differently is also what came alive to me...the story of the servant who was forgiven the debt he owed when he begged his master, but did not forgive others that owed him a debt. When he was unwilling to forgive others his debt came back to him and he was tortured. WOW!!! I have read that story but never really saw it before now. We can quote that if we…

Forgiveness really isn’t forgiveness unless it’s complete. And yes, I’m sure intellectually I’ve know that for quite sometime, but there is something different about completion. It’s far too easy to get sucked into the world’s idea of “oh it’s ok”. It’s a concept that whether applied to forgiving others or asking forgiveness simply acknowledges the issue but does nothing to erase the debt- it’s not wiped clean but deferred to have to be dealt with at a later date.

It’s kind of like cleaning when mold is present. You can wipe the mold away and just treat it like it’s dirt, and for a while it’s ok. However, unless you acknowledge that…

More seriously than before. I’m not one to hold a grudge, so not held back much there. But certainly one looking in the rear view mirror, hard time receiving forgiveness. Thinking in the natural, if I’ve wronged someone and have asked forgiveness and they say they do, not always trusting that. Rather than moving on and receiving it, going back to a “do you really mean it?” mentality. Don’t want to carry that way with God.

He takes forgiveness seriously. It’s an attribute of God and His kingdom that the world sees as weakness. The world’s way is making sure that people “get what they deserve”. But God gives grace for those…

Great post Rabbi Nate..

Pastor Aaron's statement about confession was profound as well "Confession isn’t just so someone else knows about it… but so you know about it and classify it as sin." This hit me pretty hard Tuesday night when I realized I did not completely forgive someone and others which caused some pretty unique emotions inside of me as I was helping someone out, aka the person I had unforgiveness towards. Yikes. Confession was key to walk through freedom's door.

Thank you for sharing this on your post.. Just reminded me one more time of the "symptoms" that occur when we are tormented by unforgiveness towards someone or something.
