As children, we outgrew clothes and toys, moving on to new ones that were more fitting for our age and stage of development. Our spiritual journey is no different. God says that there are things that we have outgrown. I wonder if we are aware that we have outgrown them or are still trying to shrink ourselves to fit in those places we have outgrown.
1 Cor 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
No more idle talk; you've outgrown that. That child talk is simply not impressive, and it becomes difficult to discern the believer from the unbeliever. Be careful how you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts. Shed the old and embrace the new! When I became mature, I put away childish things.
2 Kings 6:1-2 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” NKJV
The place you've been has become too small; you've outgrown that. You've outgrown small mindsets, small dreams, and small goals. You've outgrown the small stuff! Jabez said, enlarge my territory! I say expand my influence, stretch my imagination!
The spies sent to Canaan returned with an evil report. You've outgrown an evil report! Period! You've outgrown limiting beliefs, destructive habits, and comfort zones. Since you've outgrown those things, it's time to grow into new things like a sign that cannot be missed. A sign that causes people to say, "I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign." You are that sign that will open up people's eyes.
I heard the Lord say three things:
You've outgrown that.
I love you, you're perfect, now change!
Break the silence.
Let us shed the old and embrace the growth into this new place:
What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace?
Can you embrace, "I come to you in the name of the Lord?"
Elisha used a stick, and David used a stick. What is your "stick?"
Do you see yourself as a grasshopper or a sign? Please explain.
In summary, I say to you, "Arise, you are anointed, you're the sign!"
There is a new life ahead. The Sign says... Caution!!! You may be unrecognizable!
1. What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace?
Certainly need to shed fear. Fear of failure AND fear of success. Shedded it last night and do not want to pick it up again. I've outgrown that. Another is waiting for the "perfect moment/circumstance" to obey. Like: all things gotta be quiet, just right to pray/study/praise. Nope, that ain't the deal. Just obey and embrace the moments and obey.
2. Can you embrace, "I come to you in the name of the Lord?"
I "can". The potential is certainly there, it's to me to prepare and embrace it. And giving up selfish fear, it's not by my power or might but by His Spirit that…
Thank you Rev. Connie for such a great message! It was so encouraging for all of us!
What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace? The mindset I will never be free and stay free from a couple things that seem to come back around (this is where doubt comes in); fear of failure—which what I am seeing is connected with pride; and one thing I didn’t know until this message, perfectionism. Some of these I have shed and I am shedding the rest. I thought I had shed them all at the altar and then Monday happened and I was like, Okay, maybe that one still needs to go! Now I realize, the enemy…
What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace?
The confinement of-I'm just Sheri, I can't make a difference, I don't matter,I can't talk, I don't have anything to bring, how can God use me??? Uh No, small mindset---I've outgrown that!
Can you embrace, "I come to you in the name of the Lord?"
I WANT TO!
Elisha used a stick, and David used a stick. What is your "stick?"
Right now... my testimonies, and my faith when it's in action and not just saying I have faith but walking and living it - - - especially when I don't "feel" it!... that is the moment someone watching will see and know God is real and…
What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace?
We find that loving God is one thing but It's our receiving his love is that we truly changed. And the life Jesus promised us to get the life by every thing comes by receiving God. And trusting him in all aspects of our lives.
(1 John 4:19) Everything with God starts with God. God has a calling for all of us and a purpose. So God has embrace me many times and I need to do the same.
Can you embrace "I come to you in the name of the Lord"
To embrace also means to enclose; we embrace In the greatness in God and in…
What do you need to shed to be in a position to embrace? I feel I need to shed doubt in order to be in a position to embrace the new. I have felt life has been demanding at times so I need to bring my level of understanding to a new place. Out grow some of the old mindsets.
Can you embrace, "I come to you in the name of the Lord?" To me, this is an "in your face" statement, which is something that I have struggled with forever. I believe now it is really just a mindset change. It doesn't have to be that "in you face" kind of thing. Just confidence and belief that what yo…
